How does it occur?

Acne is a common problem for all age groups. Acne is common among men, women, and sometimes even children. However, common acne might be it has a tantalizing remorse effect on the patients. The reason behind this effect is the scars that acne leaves on the skin.

Acne scars are areas of pitted or raised skin. They’re the direct result of damage to the skin due to acne. When acne happens on the skin it leaves damage on the underlying layer of skin. After it goes away, the skin begins its healing process. the skin heals the damaged places using collagen fibers. These fibers make up the damaged space and cover the gap caused by the damage.

Acne scars are formed when the fiber covers up the gaps in the skin. When our body doesn’t produce enough collagen, pitted scars can occur. If your body produces too much collagen, raised scars can occur. Usually, acne takes two forms.

  1. Rolling scars: Scars with a gradual dip or depression. These scars give the skin a wave-like appearance.
  2. Boxcar scars: Scars that are deep and narrow. As they are narrow and deep, they generally appear as small imprints on the skin.

Treatment of acne scars is essential if you want your skin to look smooth. You can treat An acne scar in case of mild to medium scarring. However, if the acne scar case is severe one should seek counsel from an expert dermatologist.

General tips for preventing damage:

  1. Don’t pop the pimples. Pimples on your skin will leave a scar unless you leave it alone. Usually, the oil, bacteria, and debris of the pimp go onto your skin when you pop a pimple. It leaves an open wound. This open wound causes scars to appear.
  2. Moisturize using sunscreen. This helps in two ways. One, it will help prevent discoloration of present acne-induced marks on the face. Two, it will help keep the skin moisturized. Moisturized skin is less likely to be seen with acne.
  3. Using household items for skincare. You can use numerous kitchen ingredients for the apt treatment of skin marks and scars. Such household kitchen items have are:
    • Coconut oil: Studies have reported that coconut oil moisturizes your skin and prevents acne scars. However, if you have extremely oily skin, you should avoid applying it directly.
    • Aloe vera: This regulates melanin production and reduces pigmentation and discoloration.
    • Apple cider vinegar: Diluted apple cider vinegar may help remove the upper layer of your skin and reduce the appearance of acne scars
    • Lemon and honeyLemon is a rich source of vitamin C. Vitamin C plays a role in maintaining a good skin tone. Honey is known to reduce irritation. This combination contributes to your body’s healing process and naturally moisturizes your skin and prevents excessive sebum production

Medical treatment for this problem are:

  • Laser resurfacing. This procedure can be done in the doctor’s or dermatologist’s office. The laser removes the damaged top layer of skin and tightens the middle layer, leaving skin smoother. It can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour.
  • Chemical peels use acids of varying intensities to remove acne-causing bacteria and reduce the discoloration and scarring caused by chronic acne. 
  • Dermabrasion. This treatment uses a rotating wire brush or spinning diamond instrument to wear down the surface of the skin. As the skin heals, a new, smoother layer replaces the abraded skin
  • Fractional laser therapy. This type of treatment works at a deeper level than laser resurfacing or dermabrasion, Because fractional laser therapy doesn’t wound the top layer of tissue, healing time is shorter.
